About the position

The Clinician position focuses on providing mental health support to adolescents in an emergency shelter care program. The role involves delivering acute therapeutic interventions, case management, and facilitating access to community resources, ensuring comprehensive care for young clients. The clinician will work within a collaborative team to address the mental health needs of children and adolescents, while adhering to child welfare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate and effective therapeutic support for adolescents in an emergency shelter care setting, addressing acute mental health needs.
  • Develop and manage individualized case plans, ensuring clients receive appropriate resources and services.
  • Facilitate access to community resources, including social services, educational support, and health services.
  • Conduct group therapy sessions, fostering a supportive environment for adolescents to share experiences and work on therapeutic goals.
  • Deliver one-on-one therapy sessions tailored to the specific needs of each adolescent client.
  • Engage in family therapy sessions to support family involvement and improve family dynamics and support systems.
  • Participate actively in treatment team meetings to discuss client progress, adjust treatment plans, and coordinate care.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to client care and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and therapy sessions.
  • Develop and implement effective discharge plans, including aftercare resources, follow-up appointments, and community support systems.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid and current licensure as a mental health professional (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably with adolescents in emergency or shelter care programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of child welfare regulations and compliance requirements at state, local, and federal levels.
  • Strong therapeutic skills in individual, group, and family therapy; exceptional case management and documentation abilities; effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience navigating the child welfare system and working with community resources and family work.
  • Flexibility to work evening shifts to accommodate client schedules.
