About the position

The Clinician I/II position involves providing comprehensive psychological services to youths and families, including assessments, evaluations, psychotherapy, and crisis intervention. The role requires collaboration with staff and the courts to assist in decision-making regarding youth and family dynamics, ensuring effective clinical services are delivered to those supervised by the Dallas County Juvenile Department.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual, group, and family therapy services to youth supervised by the Dallas County Juvenile Department.
  • Complete psychological assessments, psychological screens, addendums, family assessments, and sex offender assessments as needed.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with psychology staff to aid in the effective provision of clinical services.
  • Conduct on-call emergency services as indicated on the yearly schedule.
  • Provide on-site stabilization of youth experiencing a mental-health crisis.
  • Serve as a consultant to administration, probation officers, court personnel, education department, attorneys, and institution professionals.
  • Provide courtroom testimony as requested by officers of the court.
  • Obtain yearly professional development through opportunities offered by the Dallas County Juvenile Department or other approved professional organizations.
  • Complete the requirements for independent licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) within 3 years of employment.
  • Conduct all other duties in the Psychology Division as directed by the Clinical Director or Assistant Clinical Director or Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology or a related field.
  • Clinician I: Minimum one (1) year pre-/post-graduate level supervised experience providing psychological services, including psychotherapeutic services.
  • Clinician II: Minimum three (3) years post-graduate level supervised clinical experience; independently licensed in the State of Texas as LPC, LPA, LMFT, LMSW, or LCSW.
  • Training and experience in administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological assessments is strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard software applications.
