About the position

The Clinician at Bethany Children's Home is responsible for conducting mental health assessments and providing ongoing individual and group counseling for unaccompanied alien children in a temporary residential shelter. This role involves addressing the developmental and crisis-related needs of youth, facilitating community mental health services, and ensuring compliance with federal guidelines. The Clinician plays a critical role in supporting at-risk youth, particularly those who may have been exposed to human trafficking or substance abuse, and works collaboratively with direct care staff to promote the well-being of the children in care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health assessments for all children in care.
  • Provide ongoing individual and group counseling sessions according to a psycho-educational curriculum.
  • Review clinical progress and establish short-term objectives.
  • Document sessions and complete notes in accordance with treatment plans.
  • Provide clinical guidance to direct care staff.
  • Address developmental progress and crisis-related needs of youth.
  • Facilitate community mental health services for children with special needs.
  • Complete individualized needs assessments at intake.
  • Develop comprehensive individualized service plans.
  • Facilitate referrals to ORR's Anti-Trafficking in Persons division upon determination.
  • Complete all client documentation in a timely manner and communicate with appropriate family, agencies, and staff.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in social work
  • Two years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience
  • Pennsylvania Licensed Social Worker in good standing
  • Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to establish rapport with diverse groups of young adults
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties efficiently
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Health assessment certified by a physician no more than 30 days prior to employment
