About The Position

The Cosmetic Counter Manager at Belk plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective execution of the company's direction within the store. This position is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales goals established by Belk and its cooperative vendors. The manager will coach associates on selling custom-fit services and building long-term customer relationships, which are essential for driving sales and enhancing customer satisfaction. The role requires a strong focus on development, sales, and customer service, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to meet the demands of the business and provide exceptional service to customers. In terms of development, the Cosmetic Counter Manager will analyze daily, weekly, and monthly business performance and recommend strategies to improve sales to both Store Management and the Vendor Account Executive. They will manage the achievement of the counter sales plan by helping each associate meet or exceed their personal sales per hour (SPH) goals based on counter volume standards. The manager will also be responsible for recruiting, interviewing, and retaining quality staff, ensuring that open positions are filled within an average of two weeks. They will develop the existing staff's skills and recommend candidates for promotion or added responsibilities. Effective scheduling is also a key responsibility, ensuring proper coverage at all times based on business needs and staffing according to the sales plan to maximize counter productivity. Sales responsibilities include meeting or exceeding personal sales per hour goals, serving as a role model for excellent selling skills and customer service, executing successful promotions and special events, and driving sales through customer clienteling. The manager will work closely with store management to optimize business-to-business opportunities and achieve assigned sales goals while identifying and reducing shrinkage in their area. Customer service is another critical aspect of this role. The manager is expected to meet or exceed SPH goals and credit application goals, thank each customer by name after a purchase, and handle transactions efficiently and accurately. Building a clientele base and protecting personal identifying customer information are also essential duties. General responsibilities include maintaining the floor and stock areas according to store standards, unpacking new merchandise deliveries promptly, ensuring timely setup for promotional events, and following procedures for inventory control. The manager must maintain professional dress standards and cooperate with fellow associates and management while complying with store policies regarding attendance and tardiness. They may also be required to accept additional duties during busy times as requested by management.
