About the position

The Closing Paralegal plays a crucial role in providing clerical support on prelitigation files under the direct supervision of an Attorney and the Paralegal Manager. This position is essential for assisting attorneys by offering various support services, which include document preparation and review, client communication, and other administrative duties related to the closure of cases. The Closing Paralegal is expected to manage cases effectively, ensuring that all necessary documentation is prepared and that communication with clients and other parties is maintained throughout the process. In this role, the Closing Paralegal will be responsible for logging daily mail and drafting any correspondence necessary for day-to-day case management. They will also handle balance verifications and assist in the resolution and protection of all subrogation lien interests. When necessary, the paralegal will prepare files for litigation transfer and assist attorneys with settlement paperwork and disbursements. The position requires meeting goals set by management, maintaining consistent communication with clients, attorneys, and insurance adjusters regarding case status, and attending mandatory meetings, including weekly reports and quarterly meetings. Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is expected to ensure the smooth operation of the office and the effective management of cases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support on prelitigation files under the supervision of an Attorney and Paralegal Manager.
  • Assist attorneys with document preparation and review.
  • Communicate with clients and other parties regarding case status.
  • Log daily mail and draft necessary correspondence for case management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three to five years of relevant work experience in related fields such as insurance, medical billing, insurance verification, or accounting.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office and ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Understanding of legal language, research methods, court pleadings, and processes.
  • High command of English grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task while maintaining organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
