The Closing Team Leader at Target plays a crucial role in ensuring that the store maintains high standards of guest service and operational efficiency until closing time. This position involves leading a team to prioritize guest experiences, drive sales, and execute closing routines effectively. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and modeling inclusive behaviors.
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest experience and coach team members to deliver service standards.
  • Understand the role in sales growth and how each area contributes to total store profitability.
  • Lead and execute best practices in team onboarding and learning, helping to close skill gaps through development and coaching.
  • Problem solve and prioritize across multiple business areas to execute store strategies and deliver business results.
  • Assist leaders through communication and collaboration to influence sales performance and workload deliverables.
  • Support store operations by ensuring departments are well-organized and ready for the next day.
  • Use business planning tools to share priorities and updates with store leadership.
  • Take action to achieve performance goals and evaluate candidates for open positions.
  • Support team onboarding and learning, helping to close skill gaps through development and coaching interactions.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations for team members and hold them accountable.
  • Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier.
  • Address store needs such as emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, holding the team accountable to these standards.
  • Support guest services such as order pick up and Drive-up orders, ensuring compliance with relevant laws.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to operate technology equipment as directed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a retail environment.
  • Familiarity with cash register operations and handling cash.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift merchandise up to 44 pounds.
