About the position

The Cloud and DevOps Engineer II at Abbott will play a crucial role in the Clinical Solutions team, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of custom-built software solutions and enterprise-grade cloud solutions for clinical trial management systems. This position emphasizes the automation of deployment for cloud infrastructure and services, particularly through the development and optimization of CI/CD pipelines, while working with Azure infrastructure to support clinical trials effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain efficient CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Automate cloud infrastructure and services to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Manage Azure infrastructure and architecture, including deploying and maintaining Azure PaaS and IaaS cloud services.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and Azure Resource Manager.
• Collaborate with developers, security, and compliance teams to enhance reliability and cost-efficiency of cloud and on-premises environments.
• Monitor and maintain observability for infrastructure and microservices using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Develop scripts and automation tools using Python, PowerShell, and Bash to optimize operations.
• Contribute to designing automated solutions for provisioning and management of environments.
• Work with engineering teams to optimize data management and security across cloud environments.
• Support capacity management efforts across cloud and on-premises resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum 2 years work experience in a related field.
• Moderate knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Moderate understanding of test-driven methodologies.
• Demonstrated success in technical proficiency and creativity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in a Cloud/DevOps engineer role with Azure services.
• Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Basic proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Kafka in a .NET development environment.
• Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
