About the position

The Cloud and DevOps Engineer II will join Abbott's Clinical Solutions team in Sylmar, CA, focusing on implementing and maintaining custom-built software solutions and enterprise-grade cloud solutions for clinical trial management systems. This role emphasizes automating deployment for cloud infrastructure and services, particularly through the development and optimization of CI/CD pipelines, while working with Azure infrastructure to create scalable solutions that support clinical trials.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain efficient CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps on-premises.
• Automate cloud infrastructure and services to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Manage Azure infrastructure and architecture, including deploying and maintaining Azure PaaS and IaaS cloud services.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and Azure Resource Manager (ARM).
• Collaborate with developers, security, and compliance teams to enhance reliability and cost-efficiency of cloud and on-premises environments.
• Monitor and maintain observability for infrastructure and microservices using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Develop scripts and automation tools using Python, PowerShell, and Bash.
• Contribute to designing automated solutions for environment provisioning and management.
• Work with engineering teams to optimize data management and security across cloud environments.
• Support capacity management efforts across cloud and on-premises resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Minimum 2 years work experience.
• Moderate knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Moderate understanding of test-driven methodologies.
• Demonstrated success in technical proficiency and creativity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Moderate knowledge of CI/CD processes.
• 2+ years of experience in a Cloud/DevOps engineer role with Azure PaaS and IaaS.
• Experience in designing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps for applications like .Net and Angular.
• Basic proficiency in IaC using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and familiarity with Kubernetes and Kafka.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts and REST APIs.
• Experience in an agile development environment.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Azure certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-400.
