About the position

The Cloud and Network/Integrated Operational Network (ION) Chief Engineer at Aerospace Corporation will lead efforts to analyze and close network gaps across the Battle Management Command, Control and Communications (BMC3) portfolio. This role involves collaboration with government and contractor personnel to ensure effective network capabilities and architecture, impacting enterprise missions. The Chief Engineer will oversee engineering designs from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with BMC3 requirements while navigating complex stakeholder interests and technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Cloud and Network/ION Chief Engineer, collaborating with the Government Program Manager and Senior Materiel Lead.
  • Work with various stakeholders to prioritize implementation and achieve consensus.
  • Understand and assess existing and planned network capabilities and their impact on enterprise missions.
  • Verify actual network capabilities against advertised capabilities.
  • Address political, vendor lock-in, and technical conflicts to enhance network capacity and resiliency.
  • Influence government and contractor stakeholders to advance proposed network capabilities.
  • Lead teams in risk reduction research and development efforts.
  • Ensure long-term sustainment and viability of network implementations.
  • Test and validate network connections against anomalous use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent.
  • 15 or more years of experience in network engineering, cybersecurity, software engineering, and cloud deployments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multiple government stakeholders to find solutions.
  • Deep understanding of network capabilities and architecture.
  • Experience delivering results by influencing key stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate complex engineering challenges with technical and political aspects.
  • Hands-on understanding of IT and network implementation.
  • Experience working with contractors to implement and test designs.
  • Understanding of cloud offerings and their impact on system reliability.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity trades and issues.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 20% of work time).
  • Current TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain SAP clearances.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active SAP clearances.
  • Experience with cybersecurity accreditation in Space Force or DoD programs.
  • Experience defining and implementing a strategic technical vision.
  • Familiarity with military space systems and operational concepts.
