About the position

The Cloud Engineer position at Princeton University involves working within a small cross-functional team to develop, deploy, and enhance data-intensive applications and processes. The role focuses on building shared infrastructure to support policy-relevant research, with responsibilities including cloud infrastructure management, operational security, and compliance with various regulations. This is a full-time position with a one-year term, potentially renewable based on performance and funding, and may allow for remote work within the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure on Azure, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement solutions using Tensorflow/Bicep for machine learning tasks.
  • Develop and implement CI/CD pipelines.
  • Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Deploy and manage PyTorch/TensorFlow workloads on CPU and GPU targets.
  • Ensure internal and external data security, adhering to best practices and compliance standards.
  • Implement observability across platforms for application monitoring and alerting.
  • Deploy threat detection and mitigation techniques across the environment to ensure data security.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure security compliance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Terraform/Bicep
  • Experience with GitHub Actions
  • Experience with Azure cloud services
  • Ability to implement observability solutions for application monitoring and alerting
  • Well-developed understanding and application of data security best practices and compliance standards
  • Understanding of compliance requirements, such as PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO27000, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A combination of relevant work experience and education that would equal 1-3 years of relevant work experience with a record of accomplishment
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
