About the position

The Cloud Applications DBA role within the Retail Cloud Application Engineering team focuses on maximizing service availability for retail product offerings and maintaining services across global Oracle data centers. This position involves troubleshooting key Oracle Cloud services and platforms, utilizing RDBMS expertise to enhance reliability and performance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Oracle Database components. The role requires collaboration with various partners to ensure operational readiness and best practices adoption in a cloud-native environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage database reliability and performance aspects for retail product service offerings.
  • Participate in migration of solutions and services from competitor cloud solutions to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Analyze, document solutions and implement best practices for Oracle database solutions.
  • Work on observability of relevant database metrics to ensure excellent insight into application performance.
  • Collaborate with peers to roll out changes to the production environment and mitigate database-related incidents.
  • Provide database expertise to engineering teams through reviews of database migrations, queries, and performance optimizations.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in administering Enterprise High Availability, multi-tenant Oracle RAC RDBMS environments.
  • Expert knowledge in daily administration activities.
  • Experience with Datapump Export/Import, Database migration/cloning, RMAN, Data Guard replication, Golden Gate replication, ODI, backup/restore, tuning, SQL profiling, upgrades, capacity planning, and access control.
  • Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Ability to provide senior-level technical support on complex issues related to Oracle RDBMS/NoSQL/ATP/ADW/ADB solutions.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Knowledge of Monitoring and Observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog).
  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Terraform/Puppet/Chef.
