About the position

The Cloud Applications DBA role within the Retail Cloud Application Engineering team focuses on enhancing service availability and reliability for Oracle's retail product offerings. This position involves troubleshooting and optimizing Oracle Database components, contributing to the migration to Cloud Native solutions, and collaborating with various partners to ensure operational excellence in a cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve standard practices and procedures for database administration.
  • Manage database reliability and performance for retail product service offerings.
  • Participate in migrating solutions from competitor cloud services to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Analyze and document solutions, implementing best practices for Oracle database solutions.
  • Monitor database metrics to ensure optimal application performance.
  • Collaborate with peers to implement changes in the production environment and address database-related incidents.
  • Provide database expertise to engineering teams, including reviews of migrations and performance optimizations.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in administering Enterprise High Availability, multi-tenant Oracle RAC RDBMS environments.
  • Expert knowledge in daily administration activities of Oracle databases.
  • Experience with Datapump Export/Import, RMAN, Data Guard, Golden Gate replication, and SQL profiling.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
  • Ability to provide senior-level technical support for complex Oracle RDBMS issues.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Experience with automation/configuration management tools like Terraform or Puppet.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability enabling tools.
  • Aptitude for learning and implementing new Cloud technologies.
