About the position

The Cloud Applications Developer position at The University of Akron involves developing software with a cloud-first approach, participating in the design and development of software systems, and deploying background processes and APIs as cloud services. Responsibilities

  • Develop software for various environments with a cloud-first approach.
  • Participate in the design and development of software systems.
  • Develop and deploy background processes and APIs as cloud services.
  • Enable end-to-end testing of software solutions.
  • Collaborate in an agile, cross-functional team to deliver software solutions rapidly, including pertinent analytics.
  • Maintain and update existing computer services and program documentation to ensure compliance with department standards.
  • Consult with internal and external users and software specialists to resolve problems.
  • Evaluate office and computer processes and procedures to define and solve routine problems.
  • Support and maintain existing applications including feature additions and bug fixes.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement cloud-native tools and architectures to improve scale and performance.
  • Take part in design research and help identify opportunities for technical improvements and solutions.

Requirements

  • Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based, enterprise-level applications and systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based computing concepts, development tools, frameworks, programming languages, and ability to use cloud services and APIs.
  • Understanding of cloud security, compliance, and best practices.
  • Highly developed computer skills including software, database, and web browser capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical skills.
