About the position

As a Cloud Architect, you will work within our growing DevSecOps practice delivering features to support cloud migration, cloud optimization, and cloud deployment. This role requires 8-10 years of experience with cloud platform services and DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code and configuration management automation. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing optimal cloud-based solutions, designing cloud environments, and ensuring the security and efficiency of cloud infrastructures.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the customer
  • Design cloud environments and demonstrate technical cloud architectural knowledge
  • Implement and oversee cloud strategies including migrations and optimization
  • Establish development tools and infrastructure for automation
  • Understand the needs of stakeholders and convey this to developers
  • Automate and improve development, testing, deployment, and release processes
  • Test and examine code written by others and analyze results
  • Perform root cause analysis on complex business processes and technical components
  • Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • Identify technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop software updates and fixes
  • Work with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
  • Support enterprise Cloud applications or infrastructure through infrastructure as code
  • Document as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
  • Leverage virtualization and containerization to optimize and modernize software systems
  • Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members
  • Engineer and implement solutions and provide recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided
  • Present regular status updates and provide cross training to other team members

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
  • BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience
  • 8 Years of Experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions
  • 8 Years of Experience with two or more clouds (i.e. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle)
  • 8 Years of Experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
  • 8 Years of Experience with systems development in an Agile environment
  • 8 Years of Experience implementing infrastructure as code and orchestration
  • 8 Years of Experience integrating deployments with industry standard DevSecOps tooling and orchestration
  • 5 Years of Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics
  • Solution Architect Certification, or equivalent, in at least two clouds (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Oracle)
  • 5 Years of Experience working in a client facing or consultative architecture role
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and Azure
  • Located in Washington DC Metro Area

Nice-to-haves

  • MS Degree in an IT-related field
  • Certifications in each of the four major clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OCI)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
  • Experience with scripting in Concourse, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby
  • Experience implementing docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Experience with automation tools, including Pivotal, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Experience working in a Health Science Program
