About the position

SAIC is seeking a proven Senior Cloud Architect to join the Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA) Cloud Enterprise Technology Services (CETS) program. This role presents an exciting opportunity to evaluate and potentially re-invent how the Army delivers IT services, leveraging data and analytics to meet mission requirements. The CETS program provides Information Technology services and technical subject matter expertise (SME) for the Army ECMA, supporting overall strategy and migration to the cARMY environment up to Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level (IL) 6. As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will play a crucial role in delivering support to the warfighting mission through cutting-edge cloud application migration and business process refinement for the US Army. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and integrating cloud computing and virtualization systems. You will provide specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, cloud service provider selection, implementation techniques, and application data migration techniques and tools to meet business needs efficiently, considering present and future capacity requirements. Additionally, you will develop and conduct testing of cloud and virtualization systems, maintaining technical expertise in relevant industry standards and cloud computing technologies. Your role will also involve evaluating and reporting on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance the capabilities of cloud-based and virtualized services. You may provide systems engineering activities such as Concept of Operations Formulation, Requirements Definition, System Architecting, and System Integration. Ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detail trade studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. This position is contingent upon contract award expected in February 2025 and is a hybrid role requiring local presence at Fort Belvoir, VA when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, and integrate cloud computing and virtualization systems.
  • Provide detailed information for hardware and software selection, cloud service provider selection, and implementation techniques.
  • Develop and conduct testing of cloud and virtualization systems.
  • Maintain technical expertise in cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
  • Evaluate and report on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance service capabilities.
  • Provide systems engineering activities including Concept of Operations Formulation and Requirements Definition.
  • Ensure the conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detail trade studies to translate customer requirements into specifications.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Fifteen years of combined computer/network architecture experience, with five years in Cloud Architecture acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • 10 years of technical and/or management experience on US Army or DoD programs providing expert software O&M of Army enterprise systems.
  • 5 years of technical and/or management experience supporting industry and/or Government Sector cloud initiatives at an enterprise level.
  • 1 year of experience defining organizational project cloud migration objectives and requirements that map to enterprise cloud vision and/or initiatives within the past 3 years.
  • 3 years of experience with CSPs (AWS or Azure) in cloud-based disaster recovery and high availability within the past 5 years.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud service provider architecture, design, and configuration.
  • Knowledge of cloud deployment models including public, community, private, and hybrid.
  • Familiarity with cloud service delivery models including infrastructure-, platform-, and software-as-a-service.
