About the position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to join the Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA) Cloud Enterprise Technology Services (CETS) program. This role involves evaluating and potentially reinventing how the Army delivers IT services, utilizing data and analytics to meet mission requirements. The position focuses on cloud application migration and business process refinement to support the warfighting mission of the US Army, with responsibilities including designing, planning, and integrating cloud computing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems.
  • Provides detailed information for hardware and software selection, cloud service provider selection, and implementation techniques.
  • Develops and conducts testing of cloud and virtualization systems.
  • Maintains technical expertise in cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
  • Evaluates and reports on new cloud and virtualization technologies to enhance capabilities.
  • Performs systems engineering activities such as Concept of Operations Formulation and Requirements Definition.
  • Ensures the conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Conducts functional analysis, timeline analysis, and requirements allocation.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Fifteen years of combined computer/network architecture experience, with five years in Cloud Architecture.
  • 10 years of technical and/or management experience on US Army or DoD programs.
  • 5 years of experience supporting industry and/or Government Sector cloud initiatives at an enterprise level.
  • 1 year of experience defining organizational project cloud migration objectives and requirements.
  • 3 years of experience with CSPs (AWS or Azure) in cloud-based disaster recovery and high availability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud service delivery models including infrastructure-, platform-, and software-as-a-service.
  • Knowledge of automation, hypervisors, containers, and virtual infrastructure management.
