About the position

OTC Markets Group Inc., operator of premier US financial marketplaces, is seeking a mid-level AVP, Cloud/Automation Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This position is crucial for supporting production systems that host real-time trading applications, ensuring their reliability and performance. The role involves participating in on-call rotations and acting as a point-of-escalation for Linux-related incidents, which is vital for maintaining the integrity of our trading platforms. The successful candidate will administer both production and non-production environments, which include co-located and cloud infrastructure and services. This includes troubleshooting system issues, performing root cause analysis, and supporting QA and development team test environments. The engineer will also be responsible for responding to request tickets and managing a ticket queue, ensuring that all issues are addressed promptly and efficiently. In addition to system administration, the role requires the administration, upgrading, and improvement of the server configuration management platform, specifically using Redhat Satellite and Redhat Ansible Tower. The engineer will manage updates of kernel, drivers, and firmware, as well as security patching, which is essential for maintaining system security and performance. Collaboration with Development and other IT teams is also a key aspect of this role, as the engineer will provision servers for new projects and stay updated on new technologies to implement improvements to our technology stack. Automation of routine manual tasks is another critical responsibility, aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing the potential for human error. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role and the organization. Responsibilities

  • Support production systems hosting real-time trading applications.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and act as point-of-escalation for Linux-related incidents.
  • Administer production and non-production, co-located and cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Support QA and development team test environments.
  • Respond to request tickets and manage a ticket queue.
  • Administer, upgrade, and improve the server configuration management platform (Redhat Satellite and Redhat Ansible Tower).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience supporting complex Linux and cloud IAAS (AWS, GCP, Azure) environments (AWS preferred).
  • Support and troubleshooting experience with current versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/ 8).
  • Operational experience supporting VMware 7.0+.
  • Scripting skills and experience in Python, Bash or Ruby.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools and infrastructure as code (e.g. Ansible, Terraform).
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple teams.
  • Experience working with Veritas Netback and Dell/EMC storage (Powerstore, Unity, etc.).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
