About the position

The Cloud Architect is a pivotal role responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, highly available, and secure cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure. As a key driver of our cloud-centric transformation, this position collaborates closely with global tech teams to optimize operational efficiency and effectiveness across the ministry. The role requires a deep understanding of cloud architecture and the ability to lead cloud migration initiatives, ensuring that the transition from on-premises infrastructure to Azure is seamless and adheres to industry best practices. In this position, you will be tasked with architecting, configuring, and managing Azure API Management (APIM) to create, govern, and monitor APIs effectively. You will also implement and manage Azure Defender to proactively protect against threats, enforce security policies, and maintain compliance. Partnering with software development teams, you will develop a cohesive cloud strategy that aligns with application requirements and DevOps principles, while also optimizing cloud resource utilization to drive cost-efficiency and ensure adherence to security standards. Additionally, you will establish robust disaster recovery and backup strategies tailored to cloud environments, stay abreast of Azure advancements, and recommend innovative solutions to enhance capabilities. Troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure issues will be a key part of your role, as you work to minimize downtime and maximize service availability. A strong service orientation and exceptional communication skills are essential for success in this position, as you will be collaborating with various teams to achieve common goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, and deploy high-performance Azure PaaS-based solutions, ensuring optimal scalability, availability, and security.
  • Spearhead the strategic transition from on-premises infrastructure to Azure, employing industry best practices for seamless integration and migration.
  • Architect, configure, and manage Azure API Management (APIM) to create, govern, and monitor APIs effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in cloud computing with a deep focus on Microsoft Azure, including extensive expertise in Azure PaaS services.
  • Proven proficiency in Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Defender, and other Azure security features.
  • Successful track record of leading on-premises to Azure cloud migrations.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud architecture, networking, and security best practices within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates or Terraform.
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Azure CLI, or equivalent languages.
  • Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Security Engineer Associate) preferred.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Alignment with biblical principles and a commitment to ongoing spiritual growth.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines).
