About the position

The Cloud BI Information Engineer - API Enablement Lead is responsible for producing reports that utilize databases and applications to provide critical information to business leaders. This role involves creating standardized dashboards and customized views of data based on specific requests, ensuring that the data pulled aligns with business needs. The engineer will apply their knowledge of the business to customize reports, identify data integrity issues, and provide feedback to application and database administrators to address any discrepancies. Additionally, they will answer questions from end-users to provide context and clarity regarding the reports, which may focus on regulatory matters, operational metrics, and productivity metrics. In this position, the engineer will develop, optimize, and maintain reports and dashboards, analyzing information to recommend solutions for problem-solving. They will also lead small projects and play a significant role in larger, more complex initiatives. A key responsibility includes designing, developing, testing, and implementing solutions for self-service reporting architecture that leverages modern business analytics tools, API enablement, and a common semantic model. The engineer will assist in migrating and scaling from an on-premise to a cloud infrastructure and data footprint, as well as evaluate and prototype next-generation tools within the Truist environment for feasibility and functionality. The role requires a foundational understanding of applicable principles and methodologies, along with specialized knowledge in SQL, relational databases, ETL/ELT architecture, data integration concepts, big data concepts, and reporting tools. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and planning projects, with effective verbal and written communication skills to relay information to others.

Responsibilities

  • Produces reports utilizing databases and applications to provide information to business leaders.
  • Customizes reports and delivers meaningful information based on business needs.
  • Reviews reports to identify data integrity issues and provides feedback to application/database administrators.
  • Answers questions from end-users of reports to provide additional context.
  • Develops, optimizes, and maintains reports and dashboards.
  • Analyzes information to recommend solutions to solve problems.
  • Determines business needs from requests and implements effective technical solutions.
  • Leads small projects and plays a significant role in larger initiatives.
  • Designs, develops, tests, and implements solutions for self-service reporting architecture using BI tools and API enablement.
  • Assists in migrating and scaling from an on-premise to cloud infrastructure.
  • Evaluates and prototypes next-generation tools in the Truist environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and five years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Foundational understanding of applicable principles, practices, theories, and/or methodologies (e.g., information technology, project management, finance, risk management, etc.).
  • Specialized knowledge of SQL, relational databases, ETL/ELT architecture and concepts, data integration concepts, big data concepts, and reporting tools.
  • Previous experience in managing and planning projects with effective verbal and written communication.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with modern BI tools like Microsoft Fabric, Sigma, etc., and/or BI Semantic implementation.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with cloud data technologies like Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure Onelake.
  • Experience or exposure to building semantic models, SDK, and/or API enablement.
  • Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience.
  • Banking or financial services experience.
