About the position

We are seeking a self-motivated Big Data Engineer with expertise in Spark and Scala to join our compliance technology group at State Street. This role involves developing technical solutions for the AML Transaction Monitoring program and collaborating with technical and business teams in an agile environment. The position requires hands-on application development and ownership from development to production rollout, ensuring adherence to performance and security standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop applications using Scala, Spark, Python, and other programming languages.
• Lead vendor product implementation and customization efforts.
• Take ownership of the application development process from development to production rollout.
• Collaborate with multi-location agile teams to align business and technology objectives.
• Follow application development, data engineering, performance, and security standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with application development using Spark, Scala, or Python.
• Experience in developing enterprise data-driven applications, ETL, and data orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with advanced Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Hive, SQL, and NoSQL.
• Familiarity with public cloud technologies such as AWS and Databricks is a plus.
• Moderate experience with Unix and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of ETL tools, CI/CD, GitHub, and Elasticsearch is a plus.
• Understanding of finance, custody services, data privacy, AML, and related compliance domains is a plus.
