About the position

The Senior Cloud Computing Specialist - Sr Security Control Engineer role at Cherokee Federal involves leveraging expertise in AWS cloud design, security, and automation to develop and implement secure, scalable cloud solutions. This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain one, and offers the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team to make a significant impact on cloud initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and support designed solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Provide IT cloud technical implementation and development services that meet the requirements of the SDLC artifacts.
  • Build, test, deploy, and support IT infrastructure in AWS.
  • Develop solutions using Infrastructure as Code methodology (AWS Cloud Formation Templates).
  • Update and manage the source code using NOAA approved source control tools (GitHub).
  • Ensure documentation completes the clients Change Control process and address feedback from IT Security Officer, System Owner, or Enterprise Architect before production deployment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (BS) Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering/Research field.
  • 10 years' experience with networking solutions (routers, firewalls, load-balancer, gateways) and protocols (IPsec, routing).
  • 5 years' experience with AWS cloud networking solutions including VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, subnets.
  • 8 years' experience with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and applying security best practices.
  • 5 years' experience with AWS cloud security (Identity Management, Federation, ACLs).
  • Experience with identifying and managing mitigations within the Cloud environment for NIST 800-53 required Security Controls.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification: AWS Advanced Networking - Specialty, or CCNP-level.
  • Certification: AWS Security - Specialty, or CISSP (CIRT-006).
  • Knowledge in Cloud based design, definition and development of custom modules, features, and package integration.
  • Ability to document features, modules, requirements, and risks of each Cloud based initiative.
  • Ability to design system architecture and interface control using requirements.
  • Ability to understand CSP FedRamp service offerings to enhance security functioning within the CSP.
  • Ability to understand Third Party Tools available in CSP(s) for security compliance and management.
