About the position

As a Principal Cloud Automation Engineer at CVS Health, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective public cloud governance and developing self-service automation capabilities within our organization. This position requires you to work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and cloud architects, to design, implement, and maintain automated workflows and processes that enhance operational efficiency and agility. Your expertise will be crucial in building automation to support the enforcement of best practices, policies, and guidelines for public cloud usage, ensuring compliance with regulatory and security requirements. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing governance frameworks for managing cloud resources, identities, access controls, and cost optimization. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, along with your hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation and Terraform. You will be tasked with creating and maintaining templates, blueprints, and automation scripts for provisioning infrastructure, applications, and services on the public cloud. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing automation tools, frameworks, and technologies that enhance operational efficiency. Your collaboration with development teams will be essential to integrate cloud automation solutions into CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes, providing technical guidance and support on cloud automation, self-service provisioning, and troubleshooting. Staying up-to-date with the latest trends, developments, and best practices in cloud computing and automation will be a key aspect of your role. You will monitor cloud usage, analyze trends, and provide automation to help optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency. Collaborating with security teams to establish robust security measures and implement appropriate security controls within the cloud environment will also be part of your responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective public cloud governance and develop self-service automation capabilities.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain automated workflows and processes.
  • Build automation to support enforcement of best practices, policies, and guidelines for public cloud usage.
  • Develop and implement governance frameworks for managing cloud resources, identities, access controls, and cost optimization.
  • Create and maintain templates, blueprints, and automation scripts for provisioning infrastructure, applications, and services on the public cloud.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing automation tools, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Integrate cloud automation solutions into CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support on cloud automation, self-service provisioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Monitor cloud usage, analyze trends, and provide automation to optimize resource utilization and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with security teams to establish robust security measures and implement appropriate security controls.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like CloudFormation and Terraform.
  • Experience building automation to support enforcement of best practices, policies, and guidelines for public cloud usage.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cloud governance frameworks, security controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps principles, and agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
