About the position

The position involves working with MITRE's government and industry homeland security sponsors to enhance cybersecurity across government and critical infrastructure. The role requires a collaborative approach to understand unique missions and constraints while applying engineering expertise to develop innovative cybersecurity solutions. Candidates will engage in various responsibilities, including defining requirements, developing architectures, and operationalizing cybersecurity technologies to create a safer cyber environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of network architectures, cyber sensor technologies, and cyber threats to provide advanced capabilities to protect against cyber-attacks.
  • Work directly with government and critical infrastructure operators to develop requirements and assist in the transition of new cyber protection technologies to operational use.
  • Define requirements and develop cloud security architectures for different cloud deployment models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Evaluate security solutions for securing enterprise cloud-based services such as e-mail and DNS.
  • Develop and operationalize cyber sensor and cyber analytics architectures for effective cybersecurity operations.
  • Apply zero trust principles to develop pilots and proofs-of-concept for access to multi-cloud environments.
  • Conduct software assurance testing and analysis to identify software vulnerabilities.
  • Explore emerging topics in cybersecurity related to IoT and industrial control systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience in defining requirements and developing cloud security architectures.
  • Experience in developing and operationalizing cyber sensor and cyber analytics architectures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with federal departments and agencies or their stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of zero trust principles and implementations in cloud environments.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
