About the position

The Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer at MITRE Corporation plays a crucial role in designing secure cloud architectures and services, focusing on enhancing cybersecurity capabilities for various federal government sponsors. This position involves collaborating with leading cloud service providers and addressing critical security challenges through innovative solutions in cloud computing, zero trust architecture, and networking technologies. The engineer will serve as a trusted advisor to top technical leadership, contributing to the mission of creating a safer and more secure nation.

Responsibilities

  • Design secure cloud architectures and services while collaborating with leading cloud service providers.
  • Analyze and develop enterprise architectures to enhance cybersecurity capabilities for various customers.
  • Design and implement cloud security solutions for multi-cloud access and operations, workload monitoring and analytics, and threat hunting.
  • Research, specify, and implement cloud-based cybersecurity tools, techniques, and procedures.
  • Utilize knowledge of network architectures, sensor technologies, and cyber threats to provide customers with capabilities to protect, detect, and respond to cyber-attacks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; 1 year of experience with a Master's degree; relevant experience with a Ph.D.; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Policy, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and their application.
  • Knowledge of cloud, networking, and/or enterprise architectures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to solve challenging technical problems.
  • U.S. Citizenship to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • ISC2 certification
  • Appropriate cloud security certifications
  • Experience implementing, developing, or managing systems using one of the predominant cloud service providers
  • Familiarity with zero trust principles
  • Familiarity with security event and incident management tools (SIEM) and security data lakes
  • Experience with large enterprise and US Government IT operations, service delivery, and defensive cyber operations (DCO)
