About the position

The Cloud Data Architect position at Kaygen is a contract role based in Quincy, MA, with a hybrid work model requiring one day onsite each week. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in Cloud Data Architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL processes, and enterprise information system architectures. This role demands a thorough understanding of decentralized data architectures, particularly the Data Mesh framework, and the ability to architect and develop cloud-based data solutions, specifically on AWS. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining end-to-end data architectures, ensuring that they align with the organization's data strategy and business objectives. The role requires strong communication skills, as the architect will need to explain and propose solutions to various stakeholders, including technical teams, vendors, and business consumers. Additionally, the candidate should have experience working with large, multi-terabyte enterprise data platforms in the cloud, and possess a solid background in system and database administration, storage architectures, backup and recovery, and networking. Experience with Informatica (IICS) for ETL processes and Snowflake for data warehousing is essential, as is familiarity with handling sensitive healthcare information in compliance with HIPAA and other data privacy regulations. The position also requires proficiency in Unix, Linux, and shell scripting, as well as a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Candidates with AWS Certification or Cloud Data Architect Certification, along with Snowflake certification, will be preferred. This role is designed for a senior-level professional who can navigate complex data environments and contribute to the strategic direction of the company's data initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop cloud-based data solutions on AWS.
  • Create and maintain end-to-end data architectures.
  • Implement decentralized data architectures like Data Mesh.
  • Work with large, multi-terabyte enterprise data platforms in the cloud.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other data privacy controls.
  • Communicate and propose solutions to technical stakeholders and business consumers.
  • Manage system administration and database administration tasks.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Data Architecture, data warehousing, and data modeling.
  • Thorough knowledge of data warehouse and enterprise data architecture principles.
  • 3-5 years of experience architecting/developing cloud-based data solutions on AWS.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud database platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Proficiency in Unix, Linux, and shell scripting.
  • Experience with Informatica (IICS) ETL and Snowflake data warehousing.
  • Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with highly sensitive healthcare information.

Nice-to-haves
