About the position

The Cloud Data Engineer - BA4 role at Barclays focuses on building and maintaining systems for data collection, storage, processing, and analysis. This includes developing data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and security. The position involves collaboration with data scientists to deploy machine learning models and requires strong technical expertise in cloud data architecture, particularly within AWS.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data architecture pipelines for durable and consistent data transfer and processing.
• Design and implement data warehouses and data lakes that manage data volumes and adhere to security measures.
• Develop processing and analysis algorithms suitable for data complexity and volumes.
• Collaborate with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.
• Perform activities in a timely manner while driving continuous improvement.
• Lead and supervise a team, guiding professional development and coordinating resources.
• Take responsibility for the end results of a team's operational processing and activities.
• Advise and influence decision-making within the area of expertise.
• Manage risk and strengthen controls related to work responsibilities.

Requirements

• Considerable experience in Python programming.
• Experience in developing enterprise-scale data warehouse systems on the cloud and migrating from on-premise data sources.
• Knowledge of AWS Data Application development including EC2, EMR, S3, EBS, RDS, DynamoDB, and Glue.
• Experience in ETL development using Snowflake or Data Bricks.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Banking experience
• Considerable knowledge of Cloud Architecture in AWS.
