About the position

The Cloud Data Platform Manager is responsible for overseeing Data Platform projects and managing a multi-disciplinary team that includes data analysts, architects, and developers. This role involves hands-on platform design and development, ensuring the delivery of enterprise data quality metrics, and translating business needs into project objectives. The manager will lead complex data engineering projects, monitor team performance, and collaborate with business leaders to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Build, optimize, and maintain data quality rules and results platform for enterprise data quality metrics.
  • Manage and implement data quality rules capabilities for source data quality checks and ETL processes.
  • Automate repeatable data quality integration and execution tasks in partnership with technology teams.
  • Define and refine data quality rules and results for various data sources in collaboration with platform engineers and data scientists.
  • Solve complex problems and make recommendations based on multiple sources of information.
  • Lead larger, complex data engineering projects with significant risks and resource requirements.
  • Understand IT processes and restrictions in partnership with business leaders.
  • Monitor team progress against objectives and manage performance through coaching.
  • Organize, plan, and manage projects from conception through implementation.
  • Adapt plans to meet operational challenges and resolve technical and organizational issues.
  • Serve as the IT Leader in an Agile environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and six years of experience managing complex IT projects or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and delivery teams.
  • Ability to interpret business challenges and implement best practices to improve processes.
  • Knowledge of technology structures and business process reengineering.
  • Broad understanding of industry and technology impacts on client experience.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical and operational challenges.
  • Experience managing a team, including talent recruitment and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of Data lifecycle management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience in software development/engineering with programming languages like SQL, Spark, Scala, Python, Hive, Hadoop, Bash, and UNIX.
  • 4 years of experience with Data Quality platforms, preferably Atacama.
  • Specialized knowledge of Data Quality Dimensions, SQL, relational databases, and ETL/ELT architecture.
  • Experience planning and managing Enterprise Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Mart projects.
  • Knowledge of data acquisition, transformation, quality, and storage design principles.
  • Experience with build and deployment tools, including Maven and CI/CD pipelines.
