Cloud Database Engineer

About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer within the Application and Cloud Transformation team. This role involves building and enabling cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, developing and deploying cloud services, and contributing to the establishment of standards and best practices for engineering large-scale technology solutions. The engineer will work closely with product teams and collaborate with technical experts to resolve complex issues and lead companywide cloud initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key contributor in building and enabling the cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
• Work closely with the product team to develop and deploy cloud services to meet customer expectations.
• Contribute to developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering and large-scale technology solutions.
• Design, optimize, and document the engineering aspects of the cloud platform.
• Review and analyze technology solutions in the cloud for strategic business objectives and solving technical challenges.
• Collaborate and consult with key technical experts and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues.
• Lead technology cloud initiatives with broad companywide impact.
• Work in a globally distributed team to provide innovative and robust cloud-centric solutions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of Software Engineering experience or equivalent through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• 4+ years designing, building, and automating solutions utilizing Azure Database services.
• 2+ years of experience with enabling cloud-hosted database services.
• 2+ years of hands-on exposure to cloud automation tools such as Terraform and GitHub.
• 2+ years design and implementation experience on Azure with exposure in defining/implementing strategy and roadmap for cloud adoption.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferred to have associate level cloud certification on Azure with specialty in Database.
• Refine functional & non-functional requirements with stakeholders to create fault-tolerant & resilient database solutions in Azure.
• In-depth practical experience with cloud methodologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), automation, orchestration, and industry-leading cloud vendor offerings.
• Experience in implementing risk and control requirements for cloud infrastructure.
• Proficient in managed and unmanaged database services, handling large scale database infrastructure build-out and provisioning in Azure using IaC (Terraform).
• Expertise in planning, modeling, design, implementation, support, and performance optimization to deliver Database as a Service.
• Proficient understanding of cloud service database offerings such as SQL MI/DB, Azure SQL, Postgres Flex Server, Azure Redis Cache.
• Ability to deliver & engage with partners effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
