As a Cloud DevOps and Platform Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems, you will play a crucial role in developing automation for creating and maintaining various Platform as a Service (PaaS) deployments. Your responsibilities will include automatically configuring and deploying PaaS infrastructure, which encompasses identity and access management, network architecture, application security, logging, monitoring, and deployment. You will collaborate closely with your team to plan significant updates and enhancements to our products, ensuring that the implementation of PaaS in the Cloud is successful through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, troubleshooting, and monitoring. In this position, you will be the primary Platform Engineer working with critical internal and external platform consumers. Your experience with public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and mixed cloud environments will be essential. You will also leverage your knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as continuous integration and continuous deployment technologies like GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef. Your ability to maintain production-grade applications in virtualized environments using automation will be key to your success in this role. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating pipelines, Ansible Playbooks, and Terraform configurations to automate administrative actions, from resource creation to service configuration. Effective communication and attention to detail are critical skills for this role, as you will be working in a collaborative environment where team success is paramount.
