About the position

The Cloud DevOps Automation Engineer at State Street Bank & Trust Co. is responsible for defining and implementing industry standards and best practices for the AI platform running on Azure and AWS. This role involves providing technical guidance to the team, managing infrastructure, and ensuring the performance, availability, and security of the platform. The engineer will also lead process management, conduct design reviews, and contribute to the development of automation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Own and guide the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) repositories, tools, and processes for management and automation of infrastructure.
  • Support the infrastructure in all environments, ensuring performance, availability, and security of the platform.
  • Improve observability systems to proactively identify issues before they impact users.
  • Provide technical leadership to the DevOps team, including training and documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Manage complex projects from design to implementation, staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Coordinate with Platform Engineering, Networking, and Security teams.
  • Conduct technical design reviews to ensure services meet best practices for production.
  • Contribute code and provide code and design reviews for internal automation tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in building and maintaining a production cloud microservice platform.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure infrastructure (VPC, EC2, EKS, S3, SSM, RDS, AKS, EventHub, etc.).
  • Strong experience with containers (Docker, EKS, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Proven record as a DevOps engineer in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tooling.
  • Solid understanding of DNS, TCPDUMP, CDNS, SSL, Git, firewall, and network concepts.
  • Strong Linux fundamentals.
  • Scripting ability (Bash, Go, Python).
  • Strong experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Analytical/problem troubleshooting skills to resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Understanding of logging and monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of network, application, and infrastructure security in a high-compliance industry.
