About the position

As a DevOps Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on the unique requirements of clients. Your role will involve automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services, ensuring system reliability and efficiency, and managing software releases. You will work closely with USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC, contributing to the safety and advancement of technology in a mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Support users through consolidation and troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of IT and/or software experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and agile development teams.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere/ESXi/NSX-T.
  • Experience with networking technologies (load balancing, DNS, SSL, firewalls, NAT, SDN).
  • Experienced in using Git and release management.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring, alerting, and analytics tools.
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation technologies.
  • Experience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL) and messaging middleware technologies (RabbitMQ).
