About the position

The Cloud DevOps Engineer at Gerdau is responsible for driving automation standards across testing and production environments while facilitating the migration of applications to the cloud. This role involves creating scalable and fault-tolerant computing systems, automating infrastructure creation, and implementing security governance practices. The engineer will also enhance automation in integration, deployment, and monitoring, and will participate in the design and development process in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive automation standards across testing and production environments.
  • Migrate monolith and microservice applications to the cloud.
  • Create high-performance, scalable, and fault-tolerant computing systems.
  • Research and provide solutions to technical issues related to DevOps.
  • Automate infrastructure creation on cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
  • Design and implement security governance practices for applications and infrastructure.
  • Automate pipelines and environments, build resilient systems, and create repeatable processes.
  • Update monitoring systems to detect service and security issues.
  • Improve automation in integration, deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
  • Design and deploy assets and code in an Agile (Scrum) environment.
  • Participate in the design and development process from definition to deployment.
  • Lead daily operational support activities for services developed using DevOps practices.
  • Verify and monitor on-premises and cloud environments and respond to issues.
  • Recommend alternate choices and trade-offs for design decisions.
  • Design and implement fault tolerance architecture for applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5 years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of Agile and Project Management methodologies.
  • Experience working with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Experience operating in virtual environments.
  • Experience with both Windows and Unix-based operating systems.
  • Knowledge of deployment and configuration technologies (e.g., Gitlab, Jenkins, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure ARM).
  • Familiarity with tools such as Helm, Artifactory, SonarQube.
  • Knowledge of source control technologies (e.g., Git, Subversion).
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Bash).
