About the position

LMI is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the IT infrastructure necessary to support the Army's next generation data platform. The Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with other technical teams to ensure seamless integration and functioning of the platform's systems. This role requires a strong understanding of infrastructure components, cloud technologies, networking, and security principles. Work location is currently teleworking, eventually hybrid teleworking and client site in Fort Belvoir, VA. At LMI, we're reimagining the path from insight to outcome at The New Speed of Possible. Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions that meet business objectives.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, developers, and other teams to ensure smooth deployment and operation of systems.
  • Automate tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any vulnerabilities and work to resolve them promptly.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to infrastructure configuration, processes, and service records that enable problem diagnosis and easy maintenance.
  • Participate in infrastructure reviews and evaluate new technology options and vendor products to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement of efficiency and performance.
  • Perform and/or participate in requirements discovery and design work sessions to determine best practice solution requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer engineering or related field preferred. Work experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, data engineering or network engineering.
  • Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs, etc.) and network security practices.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance in a timely manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator) are a plus.
  • Analytical mindset - data-driven and able to problem solve, particularly in the use of platform metadata or logging data to diagnose issues raised by platform users in relation to system functionality, or data pipelines.
  • Strong communicator - able to deliver messages effectively, specifically as it relates to translating functional requirements into technical solutions and coordinating across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Be self-motivated and self-starting - able to execute with minimal guidance, embrace new methods, and learn and new concepts.
  • Attention to detail - focus on rigor and completeness of work output.
