About the position

The Cloud Engineer/Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Chickasaw Nation Industries plays a critical role in providing expert-level functional knowledge to project and team leadership in specialized fields such as IT Governance, systems engineering, and knowledge management. This position is essential for managing and maintaining current and future Cloud Cybersecurity standards and best practices, ensuring that the organization adheres to the highest levels of security and operational efficiency. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for implementing the Cloud Computing Plan for Operations (C3PO) practices, which includes the review and coordination of intercepts, hardware reuse, and independent security assessments. This role also supports Joint & Co-Use Cybersecurity activities and information requests, ensuring that the organization is compliant with all necessary regulations and standards. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Cloud Engineer will collaborate with system owners to design topologies for custom business and scientific applications across various cloud service providers. This includes evaluating and identifying optimal cloud solutions, modifying existing systems, and educating teams on new cloud technologies and initiatives. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues, as well as architecting and demonstrating cloud solutions to potential customers. The Cloud Engineer will also be responsible for reviewing documentation from cloud service providers and developing policies and procedures for their use within the enterprise. The role demands a commitment to compliance with all applicable rules and regulations, fostering a culture of integrity and accountability within the organization. The Cloud Engineer will be expected to promote compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the Federal Acquisition Regulations and Code of Federal Regulations. This position requires a strong educational background, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in a technical discipline or fifteen years of recent relevant experience, along with necessary certifications such as IAT II+ or IAM III. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable hands-on experience with major cloud service providers and a strong understanding of systems engineering, cybersecurity, and business process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, manages, and maintains current/future Cloud Cybersecurity standards and best practices.
  • Monitors and implements Cloud Computing Plan for Operations (C3PO) practices.
  • Supports Joint & Co-Use Cybersecurity activities and information requests.
  • Facilitates and prioritizes interactions between Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and Government entities.
  • Collaborates with system owners to identify and design topologies for custom applications.
  • Evaluates and identifies optimal cloud solutions with engineering and development teams.
  • Modifies and improves existing systems.
  • Educates teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives.
  • Evaluates cloud services for functionality and security.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
  • Architects and demonstrates cloud solutions to potential customers.
  • Reviews documentation of cloud service providers and develops policies and procedures for enterprise use.
  • Interacts with clients, provides cloud support, and makes recommendations based on client needs.

Requirements

  • MA/MS degree and a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in a technical discipline or fifteen (15) years of recent relevant experience.
  • TS/SCI Clearance is required.
  • IAT II+ or IAM III certifications such as CASP, CCNP, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GSLC, CCISO, CCSP, CISM are required.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in one of the four cloud service providers: Oracle Cloud, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience in systems migration to the cloud and DoD Risk Management Framework.
  • Strong project management and solutions development skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
