The Cloud Engineer position focuses on leveraging GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and Terraform to design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure with a strong emphasis on automation and security. This role is critical in ensuring that the cloud environments are optimized for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The engineer will be responsible for leading the design and administration of cloud infrastructure, collaborating closely with development teams to ensure that business-focused applications are delivered on time and meet specific infrastructure needs. The position requires a proactive approach to building security into all aspects of cloud infrastructure, including operating systems, virtual machines, containers, Kubernetes, and APIs. In addition to infrastructure management, the Cloud Engineer will establish a vulnerability management process with strict SLAs to ensure that both production and non-production environments are secure. This includes partnering with the Information Security team to communicate and execute security requirements effectively. The role also involves building a comprehensive DevOps and DevSecOps program that encompasses architecture, design, development, deployment, and secure CI/CD practices. Documentation is a key component of this role, as the engineer will be expected to produce deployment diagrams and architecture documentation, as well as build KPIs for cloud infrastructure to communicate effectively with leadership. The position also includes mentoring junior engineers and providing on-demand production support on a rotational basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and implementing large-scale platforms with high resiliency and reliability using public cloud infrastructure, along with a solid understanding of Linux fundamentals and a strong problem-solving mindset.
