About the position

The Enterprise Technology & Security Summer Internship Program is designed for emerging technologists looking to gain practical, hands-on experience in the field of cloud engineering. This critical program within Enterprise Technology & Security Services provides passionate early career professionals with real-world exposure to groundbreaking technology. Interns in the Cloud Engineer Track will work alongside experienced engineers to modernize the way Citizens stores and accesses data. This collaborative environment allows interns to enhance their engineering expertise while contributing to cloud implementation opportunities. As a Cloud Engineer Intern, you will support the implementation of cloud-based solutions throughout the organization. Your role will involve offering technical support to end-users and partners of these cloud solutions, as well as assisting in monitoring the performance of cloud applications and solutions. You will analyze opportunities for improvement, ensuring that the cloud services provided are efficient and effective. The internship program spans 10 weeks, beginning in early June 2025, and includes a variety of activities aimed at professional development. Interns will participate in orientation sessions, professional development workshops covering topics such as Personal Branding and Communicating with Impact, and social activities including sporting events and a bank-wide intern BBQ. Additionally, dedicated community service activities will be part of the experience. High-performing interns who demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career within Enterprise Technology & Security may receive an offer to return as a full-time colleague in the Enterprise Technology & Security Development Program (ETSDP) upon graduation. This full-time program is designed to help rising professionals build meaningful careers in software, network/systems, data or cloud engineering, technology risk, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of cloud-based solutions throughout the organization.
  • Offer technical support to cloud-based solutions end-users and partners.
  • Assist with monitoring the performance of cloud applications and solutions; analyze opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, software development, or other technology-related degree.
  • Expected graduation date of May 2026.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Solid understanding of one or more programming languages, frameworks, libraries, and data formats: Java, JavaScript, C, Python, .Net, Node, SQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a team environment; good interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud engineering via internships or coursework, including developing cloud solutions, cloud architecture, and cloud application design.
  • Cyber security coursework preferred.
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, GCP, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, IaC tools, Kibana, DataDog, Python or JavaScript.
