About the position

Mindbank Consulting Group has an immediate need for a Cloud Engineer. The Cloud Engineer will be part of an experienced team that provides systems engineering and administration for our client's operational enterprise and its mission systems. In this role, you will work independently or as a member of a team to lead and support both routine and complex tasks. You will be responsible for the day-to-day systems engineering and administration of cloud management, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and securely. Your responsibilities will include planning, organizing, and conducting technical projects, as well as assessing hardware and software architectures to identify potential opportunities and limitations. You will be tasked with identifying, defining, and implementing new concepts, approaches, and solutions for both routine and non-routine software and hardware engineering applications and utility programs. Additionally, you will need to identify and resolve challenging hardware and software compatibilities, interfaces, and design considerations, ensuring that all systems are integrated effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud-based technologies, particularly with Azure and AWS, and will possess a deep understanding of the five pillars of well-architected frameworks. You will demonstrate experience with Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and/or administration, including proficiency in both Windows and Linux systems, as well as Cloud Storage mechanisms. Your role will also involve maintaining and renewing certificates and third-party software licenses, ensuring compliance and security across all platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support routine and complex tasks independently or as part of a team.
  • Provide day-to-day systems engineering and administration for cloud management.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct technical projects.
  • Assess hardware and software architectures to identify opportunities and limitations.
  • Identify, define, and implement new concepts and solutions for software and hardware engineering applications.
  • Resolve challenging hardware and software compatibilities, interfaces, and design considerations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in cloud-based technologies, specifically Azure and AWS.
  • Understanding of the 5 pillars of well-architected frameworks; experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Cloud Infrastructure Engineering and/or administration including Windows & Linux systems.
  • Experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) Management and Linux Auto-Updater.
  • Experience maintaining/renewing certificates & 3rd party software licenses.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, GitHub, Terraform, Salt, AWS Cloudformation, Chef, Apache Maven, and Azure DevOps Server.
  • Experience assessing, customizing, troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining technologies, platforms, and applications for security and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of code/version development, configuration management, Cloud orchestration tools, and continuous delivery.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Host Based Security System (HBSS).
  • One or more of the following certifications: MICROSOFT AZURE Administrator or Fundamentals, Amazon AWS System Administrator Certification, Microsoft Certification, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II.
