About the position

As a Cloud Engineer at McWane, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's cloud-based systems. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced individual who will work closely with the Infrastructure's Open Systems team and the Operations team to optimize cloud solutions that align with our business needs. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions while adhering to company security policies and best practices in cloud security. Your responsibilities will include identifying, analyzing, and resolving infrastructure inefficiencies, vulnerabilities, and application deployment issues. You will regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements, collaborating with both the Infrastructure and Operations teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions. Additionally, you will educate teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives, interact with clients to provide cloud support, and make recommendations based on their needs. Maintaining a culture of continuous improvement is essential, as you will manage both long and short-term projects using approved tools while working within budget constraints. Strong written, oral, communication, and facilitation skills are necessary to document processes and promote cybersecurity initiatives effectively. You will also keep the Director of IT Infrastructure and other key managers informed of significant issues or developments as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy and maintain cloud-based systems.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and process functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure inefficiencies, vulnerabilities, and application deployment issues.
  • Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure and Operations teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions.
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud technologies and initiatives.
  • Interact with clients, provide cloud support, and make recommendations based on client needs.
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement by managing long and short-term projects using approved tools while working within budget constraints.
  • Promote cybersecurity initiatives and document processes as a standard.
  • Observe and enforce all company, human resources, and safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Keep the Director, IT Infrastructure, and other key managers abreast of significant issues or developments as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Solid experience in Azure and AWS cloud services.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code, JSON, YAML, and Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and encourage teamwork.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred certifications: Azure Solution Architect, AWS Solution Architect, Microsoft/AWS DevOps.
  • Preferred experience: 10 years of experience with industry certifications.
