About the position

At Alight, we believe a company's success starts with its people. This role supports services provided to the federal government or federal government contractors and therefore requires US Citizenship. Proof of citizenship status will be required at the time of hire. The primary focus of this position is to collect and analyze data to provide financial and operational insights critical to the success of the organization. This includes monitoring cloud usage and spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities. With a heavy emphasis on cloud services, you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to promote a culture of cost accountability and awareness around cloud consumption. In this role, you will be responsible for financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as consumption analysis including KPIs, show back, analytics, and capacity management. You will utilize analytical techniques to present information that supports business decisions, ensuring that all IT financial targets are met while advising on financial planning and budgeting. You will also monitor and manage IT expenditure, examining areas where budgets and expenditure exceed their agreed tolerances. Your responsibilities will include the development and enhancement of a governance framework for cloud financial management, keeping up with the latest cost optimization strategies and technologies, and generating month-end and quarter-end reports that align cloud costs with financial budgets and forecasts. You will work closely with various stakeholders to help them understand their cloud spend and optimize it based on their unique architecture and desired business outcomes. Additionally, you will develop dashboards using cloud-native tooling to analyze, monitor, and report on Alight's consumption of cloud and related services, proactively identifying opportunities for optimization. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze data to provide financial and operational insights.
  • Monitor cloud usage and spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Conduct consumption analysis including KPIs, show back, analytics, and capacity management.
  • Utilize analytical techniques to present information supporting business decisions.
  • Advise on financial planning and budgeting, directing financial plans and forecasts.
  • Monitor and manage IT expenditure, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Examine areas where budgets and expenditure exceed agreed tolerances.
  • Develop and enhance the cloud financial management framework and governance processes.
  • Keep up with the latest cost optimization strategies and technologies.
  • Generate and maintain month-end and quarter-end reports aligning cloud costs with financial budgets and forecasting.
  • Monitor and track customers at risk, initiating necessary escalation processes.
  • Provide comprehensive reporting on Azure and AWS resources for optimization efforts.
  • Collaborate with the global governance team to design, analyze, and remediate control measures.
  • Identify emerging risks, threats, and deficiencies in key controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related field, or applicable work experience.
  • 5 years of financial operation experience with a focus on IT and cloud financial management.
  • 3 years of experience working with Cloud providers to ensure adherence to governance.
  • Proven track record and experience with Cloud provider tools and billing mechanics.
  • Experience managing cloud costing or similar cost consumption and capacity planning models within AWS and Azure.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with internal/external customers, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks while demonstrating poise in a high-pressure environment.
  • Extremely self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
