About the position

As a Cloud FinOps Engineer at xScion, you will play a pivotal role in helping our customers achieve their cloud program goals for 2024 and beyond. Your primary focus will be on enhancing visibility into cloud spending, implementing cost optimization strategies, improving processes, and adopting FinOps best practices, all while emphasizing automation and enhancing the customer and stakeholder experience. You will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing costs associated with AWS cloud services, utilizing GitLab CI/CD pipeline services to implement effective cost management actions. In the realm of automation, you will research, design, implement, and manage automated tools and solutions that help identify cost trends and anomalies. Your role will involve building both proactive and reactive automation strategies that optimize AWS resources within the GitLab CI/CD pipeline environment. Additionally, you will create financial and usage dashboards, collaborating closely with financial and management teams to prepare budget forecasts and expense reports. To be successful in this role, you will need to bring at least 4 years of experience as a FinOps Engineer or in a similar capacity, along with a strong technical background in AWS cloud services and cost management. Your proficiency in GitLab CI/CD pipeline services and a solid understanding of FinOps principles will be crucial. You will also need to demonstrate strong analytical skills to identify cost trends and translate financial data into actionable insights, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and present complex financial data to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, optimize, and implement cost optimization actions over AWS cloud using GitLab CI/CD pipeline services.
  • Research, design, implement, and manage automated tools/solutions to help identify cost trends and anomalies.
  • Build proactive and reactive automation that optimizes AWS resources via the GitLab CI/CD pipeline environment.
  • Create financial and usage dashboards.
  • Work with financial and management teams on budget, forecast, and expenses reports.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a FinOps Engineer or equivalent.
  • Permanent Residency Required.
  • Extensive experience with AWS cloud services and cost management.
  • Proficiency in using GitLab CI/CD pipeline services.
  • Strong understanding of FinOps principles and best practices.
  • Experience in designing and implementing automated tools for cost management.
  • Ability to build and maintain financial and usage dashboards.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify cost trends and anomalies.
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with financial and management teams.
  • Ability to present complex financial data to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Previous experience in a FinOps role.
  • Strong background in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Experience with other CI/CD tools besides GitLab.
  • Familiarity with cloud management platforms and tools.
