About the position

The Cloud FinOps Manager at Mass General Brigham is responsible for leading the FinOps and Cloud Optimization practice, focusing on developing strategies to reduce cloud spending and maximize efficiency. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on work, requiring the manager to build a team and implement best practices in cloud infrastructure cost management. The position is integral to enhancing the organization's digital health capabilities and ensuring effective financial management of cloud resources.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the FinOps and Cloud Optimization practice.
  • Develop and optimize methods, team structure, and technology for cloud infrastructure cost management.
  • Champion cloud infrastructure cost management best practices.
  • Partner with finance, procurement, and engineering teams to manage cloud infrastructure costs.
  • Utilize public cloud technology tools to drive FinOps practices and methodologies.
  • Guide the creation of analytical models for data-driven insights on cloud spending.
  • Create utilization and forecasting models for predicting cloud infrastructure costs and usage.
  • Maintain internal documentation on FinOps and cost optimization processes.
  • Provide excellent service to stakeholders and hold the team accountable for meeting service level agreements (SLAs).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, or other cloud services.
  • 5+ years of experience working in NIH or other Federal Government environments.
  • Deep understanding of CSP FinOps tools.
  • Experience with relational databases, data extraction, and data analysis tools.
  • Understanding of industry best practices related to cloud resource tagging and automation.
