About the position

The Cloud FinOps Consultant role is designed to bridge the gap between business, engineering, and finance teams, enabling data-driven decisions to optimize cloud usage and maximize business value. The consultant will focus on establishing a FinOps culture, implementing cloud cost management best practices, and ensuring efficient use of cloud resources. The position requires deep technical knowledge of Azure and AWS, with responsibilities including rightsizing, workload management, anomaly detection, and maintaining a tagging strategy.

Responsibilities

• Assist FinOps practitioners in bridging business, engineering, and finance teams.
• Enable evidence-based decisions in near-real time to optimize cloud use.
• Establish a FinOps culture and demonstrate knowledge of the FinOps Framework.
• Help engineering teams adopt FinOps by using cost and resource metrics.
• Select appropriate resource locations and perform rightsizing activities.
• Manage workloads by running resources only when needed and removing unused resources.
• Monitor for spending anomalies and maintain transparency in cloud costs.
• Create benchmarks for teams to use in cloud cost management.
• Inform and create cloud budgets and forecasts.

Requirements

• Deep technical expertise in Azure (primary) and AWS (secondary).
• Experience in cloud cost management and optimization practices.
• Knowledge of FinOps principles and capabilities.
• Ability to create visibility and transparency in cloud costs.
• Experience in budgeting and forecasting for cloud resources.

Nice-to-haves

• Understanding of Licensing and SaaS models.
• Experience with cloud policy and governance.
• Knowledge of cloud sustainability practices.
