About the position
The Cloud Infrastructure/Automation Administrator at UC Davis is responsible for managing and automating cloud infrastructure and deployment processes within the IET Enterprise Platforms team. This role involves troubleshooting and supporting custom applications that facilitate access control and account management for cloud practitioners using AWS and Azure. The incumbent will leverage their expertise in cloud services, infrastructure-as-code tools, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance the efficiency and security of cloud operations on campus.
Responsibilities
- Administer and automate cloud infrastructure processes in AWS and Azure.
- Troubleshoot and support custom applications for access control and account management.
- Utilize infrastructure-as-code tools for deployment and configuration management.
- Collaborate with team members to research and design cloud services.
- Communicate technical information effectively to various stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience maintaining and automating infrastructure deployments and configurations.
- Proficiency with version control systems (Git, SVN) and scripting languages.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef).
- Knowledge of security practices for operating systems and applications.
- Experience managing AWS solutions including EC2, S3, and CloudFormation.
Nice-to-haves
- Current AWS or Microsoft Azure certification.
- Experience with machine learning and AI tools.
- Familiarity with security tooling such as SIEMs and vulnerability scanning utilities.
- Experience developing applications using Python.
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform.
