About the position

Parsons is seeking a talented Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to shape the cloud strategy and architecture of the organization. This role involves collaborating with development and engineering teams to design cloud solutions that meet customer requirements while ensuring compliance with security standards. The engineer will leverage expertise in AWS or Azure to optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure cloud infrastructure using AWS or Azure.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop automation scripts for efficient deployment and management of cloud resources.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and practices in the cloud environment.
  • Monitor cloud services for availability, performance issues, and cost optimizations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to development teams on integrating applications with the cloud infrastructure.
  • Stay updated on new features and technologies offered by AWS or Azure to enhance cloud capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 10+ years of related experience.
  • Proven experience as a Cloud Systems Engineer or Architect with a strong focus on AWS or Azure.
  • Deep understanding of core AWS/Azure services, including EC2/S3/RDS/VPC or their Azure equivalents (VMs/Blob Storage/Azure SQL/VNet).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (DNS/TCP/IP) and security best practices in the cloud environment.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are highly desirable.
  • Experience working within DevOps culture utilizing tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Background in migrating on-premise applications to the cloud.
  • Linux or Windows system administration expertise.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostics which traverse to on premise solutions.
