About the position

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at Vaco is a pivotal role responsible for deploying, troubleshooting, and maintaining platform resources, including infrastructure, networking, and infrastructure as code. This position requires a strong background in AWS and Windows environments, particularly in large-scale settings. The engineer will be tasked with performing application, server, and database maintenance, as well as conducting data analysis and creating health and monitoring reports. The role emphasizes collaboration with business units to leverage technology for enhanced operational value. In this position, the engineer will be responsible for deploying and maintaining core business applications, which includes managing application servers, associated hardware, and databases. The role also involves installing and configuring necessary software, performing system maintenance, monitoring system activity, and gathering system statistics. The engineer will need to follow up on reported errors and alarms, providing after-hours on-call support for production emergencies and escalating issues as necessary. A proactive approach is essential, as the engineer will analyze systems to identify root causes of issues and assess existing and new use case configurations. The role also includes maintaining and improving application and database monitoring, seeking systems improvements through regular performance monitoring and capacity analysis, and recommending system upgrades and hardening as appropriate. Documentation of all issues and resolution steps using the help desk ticketing system is also a critical responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot core business applications including application servers, associated hardware, and databases.
  • Install and configure software as required.
  • Perform system maintenance, monitor system activity, and gather system statistics.
  • Follow up on reported errors and alarms.
  • Provide after-hours on-call support for production emergencies and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Analyze systems to find root causes of issues and assess existing and new use case configurations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience providing AWS cloud infrastructure technical support.
  • Proven experience with Cloud Best Practices.
  • Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
  • Experience with Boomi or similar integration platforms.
  • Strong scripting/automation experience.
  • Experience with container platforms (e.g., Kubernetes or similar).
  • API Management experience (e.g., Apigee or similar).
