About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer/Architect to support cloud networking and architecting solutions for customers. This fully remote position requires a 10% travel commitment and involves responsibilities such as designing and implementing AWS cloud solutions, ensuring compliance with security policies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance network performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products and investigates technical capabilities of competing solutions.
  • Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions and ensures compliance through formal verification methods.
  • Translates high-level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications.
  • Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures related to network and system development.
  • Designs interfaces and integrates network and system elements to function cohesively.
  • Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Acts as a customer liaison and supports business development activities to understand and shape requirements.
  • Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment using engineering and programming knowledge.
  • Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of design concepts.
  • Installs new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Generates system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
  • Reviews test plans/procedures to ensure they meet contractual objectives and participates in the testing process.
  • Develops and analyzes existing administrative operations and management controls for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conducts assessments of documents for compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to modify resource documents and implement recommended frameworks.
  • Responsible for all aspects of network engineering, design, and implementation of AWS cloud solutions.
  • Administers AWS VPC, Transit Gateways, VPNs, Firewalls, and related services.
  • Implements and manages AWS network security measures.
  • Integrates hybrid networks with AWS using VPNs and AWS Direct Connect.
  • Develops and maintains detailed network diagrams and support procedures.
  • Monitors network availability and capacity utilization to meet service objectives.
  • Supports proofs-of-concept design and testing activities.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves network issues across cloud environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience or equivalent experience.
  • Top Secret clearance required.
  • Must have or obtain IAT level II certification within 90 days of hire (e.g., CompTIA Security+(CE)).
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of DOD Security, RMF, and/or NIST Policies.
