About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer/Architect to support cloud networking and architecting solutions for customers. This fully remote position involves a 10% travel requirement and focuses on designing, implementing, and managing AWS cloud solutions while ensuring compliance with security policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information concerning the capabilities of Company products and investigate technical capabilities of competing equipment and solutions.
  • Generate quantifiable requirements based on customer descriptions, system planning, and design, ensuring compliance through formal verification methods.
  • Translate high-level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications.
  • Establish and coordinate the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to network and system development.
  • Design interfaces and integrate network and system elements to function cohesively.
  • Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Act as a customer liaison and support business development activities to understand and shape requirements.
  • Coordinate the planning, design, and installation of equipment using engineering and programming knowledge.
  • Participate in system conceptual design and document design concepts.
  • Install new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Design, create, and build network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Generate system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning.
  • Review test plans/procedures to ensure they meet contractual requirements and participate in the testing process.
  • Develop and analyze existing administrative operations and management controls for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct assessments of documents for compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and SMEs to modify resource documents and implement recommended frameworks.
  • Responsible for all aspects of network engineering, design, and implementation of AWS cloud solutions.
  • Administer AWS VPC, Transit Gateways, Wide-area Network, VPNs, Firewalls, and related services.
  • Implement and manage AWS network security measures, including Security Groups and Network ACLs.
  • Integrate hybrid networks with AWS using VPNs and AWS Direct Connect.
  • Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams and support procedures in partnership with Network Architects.
  • Monitor network availability and capacity utilization to meet service objectives.
  • Support proofs-of-concept design and testing activities, and assist in developing change requests and proposals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across development, testing, and production environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Top Secret clearance required.
  • Must have or obtain IAT level II certification within 90 days of hire (e.g., CompTIA Security+(CE)).
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of DOD Security, RMF, and/or NIST Policies.
