About the position

The Cloud Network Security Engineer role at Booz Allen involves leveraging cloud capabilities to create advanced network security solutions that protect sensitive information in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. The engineer will research, design, and implement security measures to safeguard client data against cyber threats, while also exploring innovative techniques and emerging areas in cybersecurity like zero trust networks and container security.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and implement network security solutions for cloud environments.
  • Identify and utilize the right mix of tools and techniques to meet customer goals.
  • Investigate new techniques and break free from legacy models in cybersecurity.
  • Broaden skillset into advanced areas of cybersecurity, including zero trust networks and software-defined networking.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a cloud network and security engineer on DoD projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with firewall, network security, or network monitoring solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience architecting Zero Trust solutions in alignment with industry standards.
  • Experience with AWS cloud-native network solutions, including Security Groups and VPC.
  • Knowledge of network security concepts, including packet capture and intrusion detection.
  • Knowledge of the OSI model, TCP/IP, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and implement scalable firewall and network security solutions.
  • Secret clearance required.
  • HS diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software-defined network and WAN solutions.
  • Experience with network monitoring for containerization technologies.
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins, and Ansible for CI/CD solutions.
  • Ability to create technical artifacts like network diagrams and specifications.
  • Ability to develop code or scripts using Python or JavaScript.
  • Ability to lead a team of engineers in developing integrated solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science, or Engineering.
  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, Cisco CCNA, or AWS.
