About the position

As a Cloud Operations Engineer at Quadient, you will play a crucial role in the development, deployment, and maintenance of applications and computing solutions that are hosted and operated entirely on web-based platforms. This position serves as a bridge between cloud technology and software engineering, ensuring that cloud services function inclusively and seamlessly. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud services operationally, which includes configuration, metrics, statistics, and the automation of operational processes. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with software development and product management teams to align cloud services with diverse business objectives. Additionally, you will coordinate security, availability, and reliability requirements for cloud services, documenting and maintaining procedures to ensure inclusivity. Your responsibilities will also include fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion in cooperation with cross-functional teams. You will automate the deployment and configuration of cloud infrastructure while ensuring high levels of security and compliance. Furthermore, you will develop and maintain procedures that promote a safe, accessible, and equitable cloud environment. This role is considered remote but requires occasional visits to the Milford, CT office, approximately once every two weeks or as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize cloud services operationally, including configuration, metrics, statistics, and automation of operational processes.
  • Collaborate closely with software development and product management teams to align cloud services with diverse business objectives.
  • Coordinate security, availability, and reliability requirements for cloud services, documenting and maintaining procedures inclusively.
  • Foster a culture of diversity and inclusion in close cooperation with cross-functional teams.
  • Automate deployment and configuration of cloud infrastructure while ensuring high levels of security and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain procedures to promote a safe, accessible, and equitable cloud environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in operating and managing cloud services, preferably in an AWS environment.
  • Proficiency in information cloud technologies and related areas, including databases, web technologies, networks, security, and process automation.
  • Ability to write code and familiarity with 'Infrastructure as Code' principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux (e.g., RedHat) and Unix shell scripting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a commitment to inclusive communication practices.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and independently analyze and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Understanding of networking principles such as subnets, NAT, and DNS.
  • Overall experience with AWS environment.
  • Functional expertise in managing the security of cloud services.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards.
