About the position

The Cloud Operations Lead is a pivotal role that encompasses leadership, technical expertise, and management responsibilities within the cloud services domain. This position is designed for a seasoned professional who will oversee the design, roadmap, and delivery of cloud services, ensuring that customer experiences are enhanced and critical issues in production are resolved efficiently. The role requires a proactive approach to leading and motivating team members both within the department and across the organization, while also advising on process improvements in collaboration with coordinators. In the technical aspect of the role, the Cloud Operations Lead will work closely with product engineers and design teams to maintain and secure cloud environments, focusing on achieving the lowest cost of ownership. This includes developing automation for continuous delivery, managing operations across public and private cloud environments, and ensuring effective incident management and support. The individual will be responsible for logging, monitoring, and event management, as well as the overall health management of all cloud environments. Availability for on-call support is essential, as the team is responsible for maintaining SaaS availability 24/7. From a management perspective, the Cloud Operations Lead will handle capacity and change management, as well as organization and people management. This includes hiring and training a high-performing team, developing succession plans, and ensuring that departmental goals and scorecard metrics are met. Effective communication and the establishment of clear departmental goals are critical components of this role, ensuring alignment with the broader organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Control the cloud service design, roadmap and delivery

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in IT design and implementation of various technology and operations
  • 5+ years in managing/ leading cloud based environments supporting IaaS and SaaS serving millions of users
  • Experience in security management would be good to have
  • Expert knowledge of Linux or Unix based system administration
  • Good knowledge of computing, storing and of network architecture
  • Strong expertise in managing cloud based infrastructure
  • Experience in troubleshooting HW, OS and App related issues
  • Public Cloud knowledge: GCP, AWS, Azure or Softlayer
  • Deployment & Configuration management: Puppet, Chef, Salt or Ansible
  • Scripting Language: Shell, Python, PHP, Go or Perl
  • Log Management: ElasticSearch, Syslog or Logstash
  • Monitoring: Graphite, Nagios or Ganglia
